The Gaucho (Brazilian south region) Capital should be the only Brazilian city to have two soccer stadiums within the standards set by the International Federation of Associated Football (FIFA).

The project of building the São Paulo's  Arena and modernization of the Giant of Beira-Rio were delivered on the morning of Thursday, 16, by the Secretary of extraordinary World Cup, Jose Fortunati, to the Sports Minister, Orlando Silva.

Another aspect that differentiates Porto Alegre from the other cities competing for the twelve seats for the World Cup, according to Fortunati, is the fact that they are stadiums built with private investment only. "In our capital, public money will be applied to other activities and works that represent a legacy of development for all citizens," he emphasized.

Praise from the Ministery of Sports
The minister praised the work of preparing the city. "It was very important to know in detail the project of a municipality that is placed on a central axis of nations with great football tradition, such as Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay and Chile," Orlando Silva emphasized, pointing out the exemplary work of the organization promoted by city hall, government the State, Gaucho Football Federation (FGF) and clubs in the departure from Brazil and Peru, held in Porto Alegre on 1st of this month.

Porto Alegre searches for 2 Stadiums
Since the beginning of  the World Cup preparation, municipal, state and government of FGF have to fight that Porto Alegre would have two stages appointed as officers for the event in 2014. "We're working for this goal to become reality, even one as level support function, assisting in the preparation of delegations," said Fortunati.

While acknowledging the existence of barriers by having two stadiums in the same city, the Secretary says that this is not exactly a novelty in the history of sports mega events. In 18 Soccer World Cup performed so far, ten cities  have already broken in more than one arena. In 2010, South Africa, another will be integrated to the list, Johannesburg.

Reference to the World Cup
To Orlando Silva  have two Stadiums with international standards of quality in Porto Alegre is a victory not only for fans, but the Rio Grande do Sul and the country, making the city a reference to the other. "We will fight with all forces to facilitate the accreditation of two Stadiums, but we need to continue working before being chosen to host the Fifa," noted, careful, the Secretary.
