English Premier League champions Manchester United are ‘90 per cent certain’ of signing insurance giants Aon as the club’s new shirt sponsor, according to media reports.

Far from being the financial disaster many predicted when AIG confirmed it would not renew its sponsorship of the club’s shirts, reports indicate that the new agreement could be worth up to US$30 million per year. That would make United’s shirt, already the most talked about sponsorship space in soccer, potentially the most lucrative.

A club source was quoted by a number of press outlets as saying: “Talks have gone well and it’s 90 per cent certain that Aon will be United’s new shirt sponsor.“
