JOIN PROHIBITION DEBATE AT FUTURE SPONSORSHIP

The European Sponsorship Association (ESA) is pleased to confirm that Antonio Costanzo, International Sponsorship Manager for Bwin International, will be representing the online gaming industry at Future Sponsorship’s widely anticipated prohibition debate.

As the EU Commission review their stance on pan-European alcohol sponsorship and the US Congress bring the curtain down on the US online gaming industry, Future Sponsorship will lead the debate on sponsorship prohibition. Marjolein Vencken, Public Affairs Advisor for Heineken, will anchor the discussion with a presentation on Heineken’s proposed strategy to counter the increasing pressure from the EU Commission. Costanzo and Vencken will then be joined by Nick Johnson, a Partner at Osborne Clarke and Henri van der Aat, Managing Director for Trefpunt Sports and Leisure Marketing, to share their views and invite questions from the floor.

Richard Moore, Chairman of ESA’s Training and Education Committee commented: “The key premise behind Future Sponsorship is to give sponsorship practitioners the opportunity to engage in genuine interactive debate that will help their businesses and shape the future of the sponsorship industry. The impact of proposed legal judgments could be far-reaching and with possible implications for soft drinks and fast food sponsorship, the prohibition debate is headline news.”

The prohibition discussion forms part of Future Sponsorship, ESA’s newly-styled two day sponsorship industry gathering which will be staged at the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel in Brussels on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd November 2006.
