The first-choice live match will be shown on Tuesdays and Wednesdays via Ned 3, along with accompanying highlights and a weekly magazine. Exclusive pay rights for the UEFA Champions League in the Netherlands had been previously issued to Sport 1.
The new UEFA Europa League will join free-to-air provider RTL, which will air the first and second-choice live matches each match week. The games will appear on RTL 7, in addition to highlights. UEFA Europa League rights have also been granted to Eredivisie Live, bringing at least two extra UEFA matches to pay channel Eredivisie Live 1 each match week. Dutch supporters will be able to enjoy further action online through the NOS, RTL and Eredivisie Live websites.
UEFA released a statement in connection with the latest distribution of rights, noting that the UEFA Europea League has ‘an exciting future’ in the Netherlands. The comment went on to note that UEFA looks forward to continuing its partnership with RTL, while developing a new working relationship with Eredivisie Live.
